Social isolation is taking a major toll on Canadians’ mental health, according to a major survey by Morneau Shepell, a human resources company.

According to an overall assessment of mental health by Morneau Shepell, 81 per cent of Canadians are finding that COVID-19 is affecting their mental health negatively.

David Robinson, a final-year counseling-psychology student at Yorkville University, said health professionals are urging for physical distancing, while maintaining social connections, to combat the pandemic.

She finds ways to indulge herself in books, characters, and movies.

“There’s no point staying in reality. It sucks,” she said.
