Four Conestoga College public relations students organized and executed a fundraiser for the Child Witness Centre on Thursday March 28, 2019. Held at the Lancaster Smokehouse, it featured local singers and artists and helped to raise awareness of the need for funding.

The CWC is a critical component of the justice system, giving kids under the age of 18 support, education and advocacy as they endure criminal trials, whether as witnesses or victims.

Over the past year, 2,648 children, youth and families benefited from the services the CWC provides, but funding is always an issue. For the 2017-2018 financial year, the CWC had $1,133,489 in expenses, but received only $396,242 from the Government of Ontario’s Ministry of the Attorney General.
