Back to school time has rolled around for the Waterloo Region, but the attendance levels at Conestoga College are lower than anticipated.
Backlogs and delays at Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) have caused thousands of Conestoga College’s international students to defer their September start dates, according to the Manager of International Admissions, Robert Huang.
However, the IRCC has extended their study from abroad measures allowing thousands of students to begin their programs from abroad using online tools provided by the college. Even students who did make it in time for the start of the school year had setbacks of their own.
