Another year starts and the Fashion ICONdors are as fresh as they can be. The new year comes with new looks, new styles and new icons.  This time, not even the extreme cold weather can stop Conestoga College’s students.

Here are this month’s Fashion ICONdors:

Maddie Malleck from the early childhood education program. Photo by Karina Kajishima and Clara Montgomery / Spoke News.

“I just kind of find pieces that I personally like,” said Malleck. “I don’t really know or care if they’re super popular or not. Whatever I tend to gravitate toward, I just pick it out. My closet, I kind of go through, I’m like, “Eh, I think that might look good with that.” It’s kind of random, almost, I guess. Whatever I personally like. I’ve had people tell me it (her style) could be like, unique but also retro. A mixture of unique, retro and more recent styles, I guess.”

With a black, cropped tube top, Malleck looked ready for the runway. She accurately defined her style with her high-waisted, belted, denim pants. They added a retro touch to her outfit while the cropped tube top with a long cardigan was a more modern look. The different lengths of each piece broke up her look pleasantly and her shiny, black, pointy-toe boots finished it off, looking flashy.

“Dressing a certain way leaves a really good impression on people, I think,” commented Wiesner. “I think it’s the most important thing. People see how you dress, they see who you are.”

Wiesner’s look brought almost-all-black realness. Wearing black high-top Converse shoes, black rolled-up pants, a black T-shirt and a black Gucci belt, he managed to make his jean jacket pop. Wiesner looked modern and also stylish with his white socks showing and his bleached hair.

Carr said, “Honestly, I just dress to be comfortable. I’m very comfy with what I’m wearing.”

Carr looked like a real skater girl. Rocking super destroyed jeans, she was wearing a faux shearling jacket, which was a really fashionable choice to keep her warm. Carr brought more fun to the look with her colourful Old Skool Vans that exhaled a Paramore’s Hard Times’ vibe. Her beanie completed her look perfectly.

Lillian Williams from the pre-health sciences program. Photo by Karina Kajishima and Clara Montgomery / Spoke News.

“Just the way I feel, I guess,” said Williams about what inspires her style.

The zippers were the star of Williams’ outfit. She made a super comfortable look really trendy with all the zippers and her Timberland boots. The grey look was also completed by her red hair, which brought a sense of warmth to the really cold weather. Williams’ long black jacket showed originality and is a very versatile clothing piece to have in a wardrobe.

Cliff can’t speak, but he confirmed through gestures that his style is inspired by school spirit and representing Conestoga.

Cliff’s style was simple and athletic. His Conestoga jersey allowed for maximum wingspan range while displaying his deep enthusiasm for Conestoga athletics. Matching shorts added a certain level of uniformity while his black running shoes with bright gold laces were the perfect touch to this look.

To be featured in an upcoming instalment of Fashion ICONdors, put on your best outfit and Spoke will find you, no matter where you are.
