Calling all those interested in land-based knowledge and trying new food.

Conestoga College has partnered with Rare Charitable Research Reserve to put on a fun and educational evening Jan. 26, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.  in the Blue Room (1B18) of the college’s Doon campus.

Called the Gathering Hearts and Minds to Restore Land Feast, this inaugural gathering will feature Indigenous cuisine and will feature speakers who will tell stories and talk about Indigenous land practices at and around the college.

“This is basically an opportunity for all peoples, both Indigenous and non-Indigenous, who are interested in learning about land-based knowledge to come together and learn from elders and community leaders,” said Andrew Judge, coordinator for Indigenous studies at Conestoga.

“It will be catered by NishDish, a traditional Indigenous foods catering company based in Toronto, and the founder of NishDish will actually be one of our featured speakers that night, as he is a specialist in land-based practices.”

The event is free of change and there is no cost for parking. Please remember to bring your feast kit (a plate, a bowl, a cup, and utensil), as there will be none on hand for participants to use.
