Despite Ontario preparing to ease COVID-19 precautions, starting on Jan. 31, Waterloo Region is not in the clear yet.
At a Jan. 26 Board of Health Meeting, Dr. Hsiu-Li Wang, Medical Officer of Health, provided a COVID-19 update to regional councillors. Wang discussed current COVID-19 rates and the strain on hospitals in the region.
“Our hospitals remain under tremendous pressure,” Wang said.
Vickie Murray, head of the region’s vaccine rollout, announced that starting on Jan. 31, all Region of Waterloo COVID-19 vaccination clinics will accept walk-ins for all eligible residents.
Murray also said that starting on Jan. 31, residents over the age of 30 will be able to request the Pfizer vaccine.
While the return to campus for many programs at Conestoga College will begin the week of March 7, as a result of essential learning experiences that can only occur on campus, some hybrid programs will resume in-person and on-campus learning activities starting Jan. 31.
Visitors to Conestoga College Campuses are asked to wear a college-issued three-layer mask and provide proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 through the Conestoga Mobile Safety app.
