Conestoga Students Inc. fired up the grill April 2 to welcome spring and to celebrate the end of the school year with a year-end barbecue.
The weather was cold but the barbecue was hot. Two grills were filled with hamburgers, veggie burgers and hot dogs. Students also had a choice of cold beverages such as bottled water, pop or juice.
“CSI had an excellent turnout at the Doon campus and all barbecues across our campuses. We served over 1,200 hot dogs, burgers and veggie burgers over three to four hours at Doon,” said CSI communications co-ordinator Zach Dodge.
All the food at all the campuses was served and the vast majority of students who wanted to get a bite to eat got one, with some students even getting a second helping.
“We ran out of food just as the line was dying down, I would say we learned from the fall barbecue and met the needs of students very well,” Dodge said.
As students stood in line at the Doon campus a DJ was there to keep them upbeat, playing the latest chart toppers.
“The barbecue was just on time with the sunshine that day,” Dodge said. “We were all very happy with the turnout, the service and the feedback from the students.”
