The George Brown Huskies were victorious in their final game of the OCAA season with a 4-1 win over the Conestoga Condors in men’s soccer action at Budd Park Tuesday night.

The Huskies scored early with a goal by Robert Mijackovic 11 minutes in. Conestoga’s Osman Osmansoy responded with a 27th minute goal to tie the game going into half time. The Huskies had a strong second half with goals by Zuheib Mohamed, Filipe Vilela and Shaquille Agard to secure the 4-1 win.

Conestoga College finishes their season in sixth place in the Central Division with two points, from draws against Cambrian, U of T Mississauga and George Brown earlier this month. They finished with a record of 0-8-2.

George Brown finished in third place in the Central Division with 19 points and a record of 5-1-4.

“I thought we played good football,” said Condors assistant coach Stuart Mackie. “Over periods of the game we played good, we kept the ball [and] we attacked well. But the name of the game is you have to finish your supper and score your goals, and we didn’t score our goals.”

“In the first half, I thought we could’ve had two or three genuine chances to put the ball in the back of the net and we didn’t finish,” he said. “They’re obviously a terrific team. George Brown are going to the playoffs for a reason.”

Mackie also spoke about the Conestoga men’s soccer team’s season as a whole.

“We’ve built on a decent year last year, but we’ve brought in some good players and we’re growing the program,” he said.

Now the men’s team shifts its focus to the indoor season with hopes of making it to the provincials once again.
