The Hespeler Village Santa Claus Parade‘s new route was a big hit on the weekend as locals enjoyed its new design.

The route that had previously run straight down Queen Street West changed course this year, making a hard left on Guelph Avenue at Hespeler’s famous Ernie’s Road House, where it then headed down the hill over Jacob’s Landing before dismounting on Sheffield Street.

Locals received the new route with open arms as the new corner design gave spectators the opportunity for an optimal view at all the parade’s different features.

“I really like the change they made this year. Before you were kind of stuck wherever you were but now you’re able to move around a bit more,” said Jake Guenther of Hespeler. “I bring my grandkids every year and I’ve got to say, I’m a fan of this new route.”

The route was designed to make the parade run smoother, with a better dismount zone that was well off the parade’s spectator area.

The Hespeler Village Santa Claus Parade runs on the first Saturday of December every year.
