The Islamic Circle of North America is welcoming about 10 new Rohingya refugee families to Waterloo Region in partnership with the government of Canada.

ICNA Relief has already helped sponsor 11 refugee families to come to Waterloo Region. Ten families have been issued visas and were expected to arrive in the region by Wednesday morning.

Sheik Abu Nauman Tarek, imam of the Brantford mosque, confirmed their expected arrival during an event organized by ICNA Relief volunteers and community members on Sunday at the Kitchener mosque.

Farid Ullah, a community activist, said he and his community are very happy to welcome 32 new community members and are ready to respond to any kind of assistance they need.

Those wishing to help the families can volunteer or donate to ICNA Relief Canada.
