In 2010, the Waterloo Region committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the region by six per cent by 2020.
In 2015, they calculated emissions had already been reduced by five per cent, according to Climate Action WR.
However, officials realized the emissions coming from transportation had actually done the opposite – they had increased by five per cent.
One of the solutions to this problem is going from gas cars to electric cars.
