Schools remain open in Ottawa, Toronto and Peel, despite a major increase in COVID-19 cases.

But is it really safe to leave schools open? Many young children don’t really understand the pandemic, and the precautions they must take in order to be safe. All local public schools in the province remain operational, despite many parents, students, teachers and school staff deeming it unsafe.

There is also the other side of the spectrum, where kids need schooling, and parents need somewhere safe to leave their kids while they’re at work. Bedford Public School in Stratford, Ont., is open, and remains as busy and hectic as ever, even due to the precautions set by the government.

Steve Rostel a janitor at the school goes through the precautions staff are taking to prevent the spread of COVID-19. In addition, educational assistant Anne-Marie Pauli talks about how schooling is similar to what it was pre-pandemic, but remains a vastly different learning experience for children.
