When lockdowns began in March 2020, non-essential businesses were closed down for weeks. This caused many small businesses to worry that their income would decrease considering their regular buyers were now out of a job.

As lockdowns continue world-wide, two small businesses have actually seen an increase in sales and have appreciated the extra time they are able to spend working on their businesses from home.

Taylor Bell and Julianne Li are two business owners who have been fortunate enough to fall into the category of COVID-19 helping their business.

Bell, the creator of Enersoul, was surprised when her sales increased.

“I thought COVID would negatively impact my business but surprisingly it was the complete opposite! When COVID hit, my revenue started to increase at a steadier rate than it had in the past,” she said.

Bell works full-time on her business, creating custom jewelry wraps using crystals and wire. She started her business in 2016 and chose the name “Enersoul” because it’s a combination of “energy” and “soul.”

Li, the creator of jewelsbyjulessss, started her business up in the middle of the pandemic in July 2020.

“As terrible as COVID-19 is, the quarantine granted me so much free time which then allowed me to start my business. If it weren’t for the quarantine, I would have never found the time to create my little business,” she said.

Li was inspired to sell her pieces when people started asking her where she bought her jewelry, not knowing she made it herself.

“When I’m creating a piece of jewelry, I usually like to make the wire work and crystal stand and compliment each other. I love incorporating intricate shapes and swirls while keeping the piece dainty and simple,” she said.
