The First United Church in Cambridge, which has been vacant since 2017, has been transformed into a Gurudwara or Sikh temple. The National Trust for Canada, a charity focused on saving historical places, estimates that 9,000 churches, or one-third of Canada’s Christian architecture, will close in the next ten years. The Gurdwara aims to serve the community by being a centre for religious spirituality and social service.
