Sanguen Health Centre has been playing an important role to combat accidental overdose deaths in Waterloo Region, even as the overdose crisis continues to grow.
Since August 2023, the center has been utilizing a drug testing machine, coupled with its existing Consumption and Treatment Services (CTS) established in October 2019. This initiative aims to empower individuals to make informed choices about their drug use by providing them with crucial information about the substances they are consuming. Sanguen hopes to reduce the risks associated with substance abuse, as well as prevent and reverse accidental overdoses.
