Shirts specially designed by Jay Soule were sold at several Conestoga campuses for $25. The fundraiser partners up with Truth and Reconciliation week to spread awareness and knowledge about the tragedies that Indigenous Peoples have faces for hundreds of years.
Organizers said the “songs and knowledge” drummers and singers brought to the Pow Wow “are vital to the health of our community and preservation of our languages and culture.”
Anishnabeg Outreach CEO Stephen Jackson said the Hand-Up For Healing game is an example of what reconciliation is all about.

The celebration helps interpret the past, present and future of Indigenous peoples at a time when reconciliation remains a work in progress.
